Latest news is that Zeb went to Taranaki to the beautiful 'bowl of Brooklands" to see he legendry "Jimmy Cliff" in concert, but in an unfortunate misunderstanding, she got left in the truck with her friend Woody & missed the whole thing! How depressing..

Zeb recently had central heating installed in her kennel, as advancing age & the onset of winter was making her a bit 'creaky'.. Paul installed an old heated towel-rail in the ceiling of the kennel & once plugged in, gives a level of comfort befitting of a whippet of her importance..

Zeb is having a LOT of trouble with Hedge-hogs at the moment. They make her SO angry that she feels compelled to charge around in the middle of the night barking at them if they happen to wander into the garden, or worse; into the shed. Its about the one thing that can drag her out of her bed before about 9am..

Zeb recently 'did a runner' during a big thunder-storm & I wandered around in the rain for one and a half hours with a torch trying to find her. Fortunately she knew where she was all the time, & came back when she felt like it...

#1 GOOD & FAITHFULL PUZZYCAT

Recently, on holiday in Taranaki Zeb was bitten by a new kind of dog! She'd never been bitten by a Dalmatian ('Jaz') before & preferred it quite a bit to the PitBull from her last holiday in Hamilton.. Something of a connoisseur, Zeb noted that recovery was quicker & she's already looking forward to her next holiday.

Whippets don't like baths very much, & TAKE A LOT OF SUNBATHING TO GET DRY!

Zeb, recently demonstrating her superior speed & knowledge of short cuts; was running flat out thru the low cabbage trees at home & ran into a pipe farm-gate at about 30knots.. She has fully recovered, but has a rugged new look, with a couple of big marks between her eyes ( & has since been occasionally known as 'scarface' around here). These add to an impressive collection of scars (badges of bravery) collected over years of adventure.. (see below)

For Christmas Zeb wanted a sausage, Woody got one too. Note facial scars! Woody has some too & thinks they make him look like Harrison Ford.

In more food news, Woody & Zeb, using speed, instinct & Whippet cunning; ran down & dismembered a large mammal. (Apparently). They wern't too sure what it was, & it was unrecognisable after two of the most savage whippets in the southern hemisphere had torn it to bits. We're hoping dental records will shed some light, but if you're missing a Wilderbeast please get in touch.

2008 has been a tough winter.. The wild & rain sound like they're gonna tear the house down! Fortunatley Whippets mostly have the winter off..

Spare a thought for the Wild Whippets of the Savanna. Some don't even have cushions!

MONDAY 28th SEPT 09: FAREWELL WOODY

Sadly we have lost our old friend Woody, at the ripe old age of 15ish..

He will be remembered as an impossibly handsome & genteel ladies-man,

& a very fine dog in all senses of the word. Glad to have known you Woody: RIP
